- [mother and son] 母親與兒子。 遂為母子如初。——《左傳·隱公元年》
- [origin] 事物的本源。 先儒言‘口鼻之噓吸為魂，耳目之聰明為魄也’，只說得大概，卻更有個母子。——《朱子語類》卷三
