國語辭典唱歌時，互相應和。《荀子．樂論》：「唱和有應，善惡相象。」《資治通鑑．卷二七二．後唐紀一．莊宗同光元年》：「陪侍遊宴，與宮女雜坐，或為豔歌相唱和，或談嘲謔浪。」
以詩詞互相酬答。唐．張籍〈哭元九少府〉詩：「閒來各數經過地，醉後齊吟唱和詩。」《二刻拍案驚奇．卷一七》：「今遇知音，不敢愛醜，當與郎君賞鑒文墨，唱和詞章。」
互相呼應、配合。《後漢書．卷一○．皇后紀下．安思閻皇后紀》：「更相阿黨，互作威福，探刺禁省，更為唱和，皆大不道。」《新唐書．卷一七四．李宗閔傳》：「而宗閔中助多，先得進，即引僧孺同秉政，相唱和，去異己者。」
