世俗的傳說及小說中的說法,指人死後靈魂附著於他人屍體而復活。元.岳伯川《鐵拐李.第四折》:「您眾人聽著,這的是李屠的屍首,岳壽的魂靈,我著他借屍還魂來。」亦用以比喻已消失或式微的事物,假借別的名義,以新姿態出現。如:「原本已被否決掉的計畫,卻在這次會議中經有心人士的安排借屍還魂了!」
